Today, August 28th, we celebrate National Volunteer Day!
The National Volunteer Day was instituted in Brazil by Law nº 7.352, on August 28, 1985, but it was only regulated in the 1990s by Law nº 9.608. A volunteer can be defined as “one who commits himself to a job, or assumes responsibility for a task, without having to do so.”
We consider volunteer service an act of citizenship, an important contribution to socio-economic activities, helping to reduce social disparities, investing in a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable world.
Congratulations to all volunteers and organizations, whether private, public or from the third sector, that contribute to the promotion of the culture of volunteering.
In the link below it is possible to exemplify how volunteer work mobilized 57 million Brazilians in 2021.
