On September 19th, National Social Educator Day is celebrated. The Social Educator represents one of the great possibilities of real transformation of society, with regard to the social and educational work that raises awareness that is carried out with people who are in a situation of disadvantage and social vulnerability.
This date was chosen as a tribute to educators and social educators in Brazil due to the birth date of Paulo Freire, Patron of Brazilian Education, Fundaes highlights the relevance of this professional and his contribution in the context of social assistance services.
The social educator is essential to seek the guarantee of rights, attention, protection and socially integrate individuals in situations of vulnerability, social exclusion, risk situation and/or disability conditions. For this, it uses pedagogical tools.
Among its functions are: planning and teaching classes, workshops, educational, recreational and cultural activities. In addition, it is necessary to monitor the development of students, promote social integration, encourage creativity and good coexistence with other people – family, friends, colleagues, teachers, among others.
